Elder Holland's #GeneralConference talk about the blind man brought something to my remembrance, which I wanted to share.
Did you know that the healing of the blind man was one of seven miracles that John recorded in his Gospel? But what’s fascinating to me is that John also recorded seven sermons given by Jesus, and each sermon was designed to teach a spiritual application to each of the seven miracles. Here are each of these miracles/sermons in order.
Miracle 1: Jesus turns water to wine (John 2).
Discourse 1: We must be born again, and changed from a natural man to a spiritual man (John 3).
Miracle 2: Jesus gives life to the nobleman’s son (John 4).
Discourse 2: Jesus offers Living Waters to Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well (John 4).
Miracle 3: Jesus heals a man on the Sabbath (John 5).
Discourse 3: Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath (John 5).
Miracle 4: Jesus feeds the 5,000 with bread and fish (John 6).
Discourse 4: Jesus is the Bread of Life and can feed us spiritually (John 6).
Miracle 5: Jesus walks on water, and allows Peter to do the same (John 6).
Discourse 5: Only those with faith (like Peter) will be able to come unto Jesus. To the Pharisees: "Where I am you cannot come" (John 7).
Miracle 6: Jesus heals a man born blind and gives light to his eyes (John 9).
Discourse 6: Christs is the Light of the World (John 8).
Miracle 7: Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead (John 11).
Discourse 7: Christ lays down His life that He might take it up again (John 10).
